A Cook County, Ill., sheriff’s deputy was questioned by Kenosha County deputies after speeding in a fully-marked squad car on Highway 50 just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a local sheriff’s spokesman.
The Walworth County Sheriff’s Department alerted local authorities of the vehicle, which was discovered in the 25400 block of Highway 50 in Paddock Lake, said Kenosha County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Ruth. A Kenosha County deputy questioned the Cook County deputy and allowed him to return to his jurisdiction, according to Ruth.
“We spoke with the deputy and after a short conversation we were satisfied with his business,” Ruth said. “He was let go to return to his jurisdiction.”
At 9:16 p.m., the Cook County Sheriff’s Office contacted local authorities requesting assistance in locating the deputy once again. Kenosha County sheriff’s then received information the deputy was found in Cook County.
“We don’t know why he was in our jurisdiction,” Ruth said. “It was kind of an oddity.”
A Cook County sheriff’s spokeswoman said she was unaware of the incident and would not comment without additional information.
