STREAMWOOD, IL - Illegal Beanette Jessica Cruz gets 15 years in prison for murdering and tossing her anchor baby into a garbage can

A woman whose newborn baby was found dead in a Salvation Army garbage can was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison.

Jessica Cruz, who was 19 when she gave birth in the store bathroom in Streamwood in 2011, had been accused of murder in the baby boy's death, but the case ended in a hung jury in November. Then on the eve of her retrial, the Hanover Park woman pleaded guilty to aggravated battery of a child.
