Two colored boys with checkered pasts have been charged with a series of armed robberies last week in north suburban Waukegan.
Anthony D. Kindle and Brandon M. Moore, both 19, were arrested following a brief police chase that started Friday near Belvidere Road and Lewis Avenue, Waukegan police said in a statement.
Earlier that day, police were called to the 1400 block of North Avenue, where a pizza delivery driver said two men robbed him of his cash while he was delivering a pizza, police said.
Police say the same suspects tried to rob a man at an ATM in the 1800 block of Belvidere Road at 8:10 p.m. The victim saw a person get out of a maroon vehicle and begin to pull a handgun from his waist.
The victim ran away and no cash was taken, police said.
About half an hour later, police responded to an armed robbery of a person leaving a currency exchange in the 2800 block of Belvidere Road, again by two armed men leaving a maroon vehicle, police said.
Detectives spotted the vehicle and started a chase, and the men were eventually arrested after they got out and tried to run, police said. Authorities recovered a black handgun.
Kindle, of the 700 block of Lincoln in Waukegan, is charged with one count of armed robbery with a firearm and three counts of aggravated robbery with a firearm, police said.
Moore, of the 400 block of South Lewis in Waukegan, is charged with two counts each of armed robbery and aggravated robbery with a firearm, police said. He was also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.
They were ordered held in the Lake County jail on $500,000 bonds, police said. They will next appear in court Feb. 9.
