Two people were beaten and robbed early Sunday morning in the Lakeview neighborhood on the city's North Side.
A 20-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man were walking in the 900 block of West Belmont Avenue at about 2:20 a.m. when they were approached by two Negroes. One of the colored men displayed a screwdriver and then struck the victims before the pair took off with a purse, cellphone and other possessions belonging to the victims.
Both victims were taken to St. Joseph Hospital in good condition, police said.
No one is in custody, but Area North detectives are continuing the investigation.
