Three colored men have died and at least 13 others were injured in separate shootings since Friday morning, including a man shot in a vehicle in which a young girl was found unhurt, police said.
In the latest fatality, a man in his 20s was shot to death around 2 a.m. Saturday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines.
The man was found in the driver’s seat of a Nissan near the intersection of West End and Kenton avenues. He was unresponsive at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds to the body, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the death but did not have the man’s identification as of early Saturday.
No other information about the shooting was immediately available.
Earlier Friday evening, a 19-year-old man was found shot on the 7900 block of South Vincennes Avenue at 6:23 p.m., police said. He was later pronounced dead.
