19-year-old Bemidji State University student Hannah Rolschau found frozen like a Popsicle after a night of partying - She is thawing out at local hospital

MIDJI, Minn. -- The 19-year-old Bemidji State University student found outside Sunday morning may have been lying outdoors for some time, Bemidji police said Tuesday.

Police said they responded to a call of an unresponsive female at 9:30 a.m. Sunday on the 1600 block of Calihan Avenue, about a block from the Bemidji State campus. Emergency personnel found Hannah Rolschau, 19, of Zimmerman, Minn., lying in the snow found outside a residence, according to a release Tuesday from the Bemidji Police Department. Police said Rolschau was unresponsive and breathing, and her clothes were wet and there were indications “she had been lying outside for a substantial period of time,” the release said.

Rolschau was take to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center, then transported to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo. Sanford Medical Center confirmed Rolschau was still a patient on Tuesday. A status update on her condition was not released at the request of Rolschau's family.

Rolschau is a second-year education major at BSU, school officials said.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the incident, police said. The case remains under investigation.

In December, a Bemidji State student died from hypothermia after she fell into a creek while walking to her dorm from a house party.
