FBI: Yorkville Illinois Negro Eric Shepherd identified and arrested as the "SKINNY JEANS BANDIT" Bank Robber

Surveillance photos distributed online and via news stories triggered two tips that led the FBI to arrest a Yorkville man early Tuesday who’s suspected of robbing at least four banks in Illinois and Indiana, according to the FBI and court documents.

Eric Shepherd, 30, was arrested near his home Tuesday, according to FBI spokeswoman Special Agent Joan Hyde. Someone who has a family tie to Shepherd and someone who worked with him in the last year called the FBI after the agency released a flier Jan. 9 asking for help finding the Skinny Jeans Bandit, according to an affidavit filed by an FBI agent in the federal case against Shepherd.

The Skinny Jeans Bandit began his robbery spree with the holdup of a BMO Harris Bank branch, 850 Army Trail Road, Carol Stream, on Nov. 21, according to the flier distributed this month.
