A Burbank teen was arrested this week after he was caught sharing thousands of images and videos containing child pornography, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart announced.

Kaillif Ammen, 19, of Burbank, has been charged with possession and dissemination of child pornography. Ammen was taken into custody at his Burbank home on Tuesday.

The arrest stemmed from an investigation by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Child Exploitation Unit and the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force.

A federal search warrant was executed at Ammen’s residence on Sept. 9, 2014, after investigators learned that Ammen had allegedly shared more than 1,000 photos and approximately 200 videos of child pornography with someone in Texas.

The Texas contact was actually an undercover FBI agent. The Cook County Sheriff said that computers seized from Ammen’s residence were forensically reviewed by Sheriff’s Police investigators and the Regional Computer Forensics Lab, Dart said.

Investigators said that images of child pornography found on Ammen’s computers included young children and infants.

Ammen appeared in court Wednesday in Bridgeview where bail was set at $300,000. He is due back in court on Feb. 11.

The FBI Child Exploitation Task Force includes investigators from the Cook County Sheriff’s Police, Chicago and Sycamore police departments, and members of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
